Girl in a Shirt

Just another beautiful early morning in Barbados...straight to hair & makeup I went. Next thing you know the boys at Surfing Mag are telling me "Hey Bree it's going to rain, so lets just go with it and get you completely wet!" You can imagine the look on my face after just getting all done up by the awesome hair & MUA. Haha soo I debated it for a minute and decided what the heck I can never pass up a chance to get in the ocean. In I went and this is what came out of it....My Girl in a Shirt video shot & edited by the amazing Sean Benik. Enjoy xo

Coo Coo for Coconut Oil // 10 Reasons Why

#1 Cooking & baking: I use coconut oil for almost all of my cooking & baking! Not only does it add a little extra flavor but it doesn't form harmful by-products when heated like most other oils, which is really important to your health. Besides using it to replace other oils you use when sautéing, cooking or broiling, you should also use when baking instead of vegetable oil. Your cakes will taste so much better!

#2 Morning coffee: I add a little coconut oil to my coffee every morning. It gives it great flavor while boosting my energy for the day, kickstarting my metabolism and easing digestion.

#3 Moisturizer: Most skin products sold in stores have coconut oil as a main ingredient so why not skip all the additives & chemicals in these lotions and use 100% pure coconut oil? I'm a huge fan, not only is it amazing for dry skin but it gives your skin a pretty glow and also has antioxidants which can help prevent aging & wrinkles. Remember a little bit goes a long way, so you're not too oily!

#4 Easy natural facial scrub: Make a simple scrub by mixing coconut oil, brown sugar & oats and be rid of dead skin cells and blackheads!

#5 Makeup remover: Apply coconut oil to your hands, washcloth, or cotton ball and wipe away your facial & eye makeup then rinse off with your normal cleanser or just warm water. It's gentle on the face and especially the eye area, but can remove the toughest makeup such as waterproof mascara, which I always need help getting rid of!

#6 Hair conditioner: I always apply a little coconut oil to my ends & bangs before I go into the ocean. It helps keep my hair from breaking off and getting dry...great natural conditioner!

#7 Toothepaste: Crazy BUT it is a part in making the best natural toothpaste! Mix one part coconut oil with one part baking soda with a couple drops of mint oil if you love a fresh minty taste, and you will have one pretty pearly white smile.

#8 Makeup brush shampoo: Coconut oil is a good way to keep your makeup brushes clean because it has anti-fungal, anti-viral & anti-bacterial properties. Mix one part coconut oil with two parts soap and work through your brushes. Rinse with lukewarm water and let dry totally before using them again. I do this every couple of weeks, it works amazing and keeps my brushes clean & in good shape so I don't break out.

#9 Lip gloss: Use a Q-tip to scoop out a little bit of your fav lipstick color and mix it with about a tsp of coconut oil in a different container and you have a new lipgloss that gives you color and hydrates like no other! Works like a charm.

#10 Hands & cuticles: My hands & cuticles get destroyed during winter months, but coconut oil saves the day locking in moisture better than any lotion. Simply rub a little on your hands and cuticles to keep them nice & healthy looking. If your hands are in need of serious repair, rub coconut oil all over then put a sock on each hand (like gloves) and sleep through the night like that…you'll be happy when you take those socks off in the morning!
